If you are already aware of these trusts, or they do not meet your requirements and you need assistance finding more, Dawn and Pippa at CAVS can support you to do this.  Call 01268 638416 or drop in to The Tyrells Centre (Seamore Avenue, Thundersley) on a Friday morning for an informal chat.

The Essex Heritage Trust has been set up to provide encouragement and help towards saving the county's rich and diverse heritage and to make it accessible for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of Essex and to the many visitors who come to the county.

The trust has helped a wide range of projects including the conservation of paintings, the repair of historic buildings, the publication of books and the purchase of items for public galleries and museums.  The types of projects the trust supports include restoration of building, structures and maritime projects; churches; and works of art.  In the first instance, write or use the form on the webiste giving details of the project – the form is available here: http://www.essexheritagetrust.co.uk/Helpyou.htm . Once it has been established that the project meets the Trust's criteria for grant aid, an application form will be sent to you.

The Heritage Lottery Fund runs a range of grant programmes including:

The Architectural Heritage Fund

The Architectural Heritage Fund is a registered charity founded in 1976 to promote the conservation of historic buildings in the UK. If you are not sure whether a building is listed etc, call the planning department of the local authority concerned.

The project must involve a change of ownership and/or a change of use.

The project must be in the United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales

The Architecural Heritage Fund offer Options Appraisal Grants, and Project Development Grants.  For more information about these, and to apply, go to their website at: http://www.ahfund.org.uk/finance_grants.html
