Four useful ‘general’ grant programmes

Awards for All is a programme run by the Big Lottery, aimed at supporting projects that benefit your community.   The awards range from £300 to £10000.  The funding is for new projects only, and applications must be sent at least 3 months before the project starts, and completed within one year.  The application can be completed online or sent in the post, and is available to download from http://www.awardsforall.org.uk/england/apply.html .  There is no deadline – applications are considered on a rolling basis. 

 

Grassroots Grants is a grants programme funded by the government and managed by Essex Community Foundation.  It will award grants to small community organisations and charities with an income of less than £30000,that have existed for at least one year.  The grants can be up to £5000.  Applications need to be with Essex Community Foundation by April 14th and following that, July 14th.  They can be downloaded from the Essex Community Foundation website at http://www.essexcommunityfoundation.org.uk/grassroots/gr_grants.html. 

 

Essex Community Foundation manages over fifty individual trust funds, and makes grants of up to ten thousand pounds for projects that benefit the community.  These can be new or ongoing projects, and can be for revenue or capital costs.  Applications are due in January and September of each year, and applicants hear within three months the outcome of the application.  To apply, you will need to complete an application form available from http://www.essexcommunityfounation.org.uk and you will also need an equal opportunities policy, safeguarding policy if working with children or vulnerable adults, and a copy of the minutes of your meeting in which applying to ECF for funds was discussed.  Additionally you will need to enclose a copy of your constitution, latest annual accounts, and your most recent bank statement.

 

Veolia Cleanaway will fund major capital projects that fall within ten miles of a Veolia Cleanaway landfill site – most places in Castle Point fall within the criteria.  They can give high levels of investment for major capital projects that are either open to the community, or centred around improving the environment or becoming energy efficient.  In the first instance, get in touch with Gary Baker on 01708520061 to discuss your application.  He will then send you a form to complete and return.
