The Boshier-Hinton Foundation are based locally and fund children or adults with special educational needs or other needs.  They have no specific limit on grant level, but an appropriate amount to request for your project would be between £1000 and £2000.  Applications need to be made in writing, by a letter outlining the background of your charity, what your project is, how much money you need and any money you have raised towards this already.  Additionally, you will enclose your latest annual accounts (or projected budget if you are a new group), a copy of your constitution, and your safeguarding vulnerable adults policy.  Applications should be sent to:

The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund funds projects that help support service users with learning disabilities.   The trustees meet twice a year to consider applications, which should be submitted by 1st May and 1st October.  The trust funds revenue costs and capital costs, from £250 upwards depending on the project.  For small grants of less than £4000, applications may be processed before the bi-annual meetings, so it may be advisable to ask for less than £4000 if you need the money fairly quickly.   The easiest way of applying is online, at http://www.bailythomas.org.uk/applications/grantapplication.aspx .  CAVS can support you in doing this if you are not comfortable using an online application form – call Dawn or Pippa on 01268 638416 to arrange this.

The Percy Bilton Charity assist groups supporting work with youth, people with disabilities, and older people.  They will make grants towards capital expenditure, and will only make grants to registered charities.  They have two grants programmes: Large Grants, for one off payments for capital costs of £2000 and over, and Small Grants – donations up to £500 for furnishings and equipment for small projects.

In the case of major appeals, please do not apply until 75% of the funding has been secured as The Percy Bilton Charity stipulate that you need to complete your project within a year of their funds being awarded.

The charity has a website to find out more information. It also gives details on specifics of what they will and won’t fund: http://www.percybiltoncharity.org.uk/ .

How to apply is detailed below, separated into two separate processes – one for te Large Grants and one for the Small Grants.
