What is Active Castle Point?

Active Castle Point is a collection of people/organisations who have a desire to develop and promote sport and physical activity in the borough.

Active Castle Point has adopted the Sport England branding so look out for the logo.

Who makes up the Active Castle Point Network?

The Active Castle Point Network is made up from a number individuals representing various organisations with an interest in increasing the physical activity of the local population.  This inlcudes Castle Point Borough Council, South East Essex NHS, Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services, Canvey and Benfleet Extended Schools, Castle Point Sports Council, SEEVIC College and School Sports Partnership.

What does the Active Castle Point network aim to do?

Sport England wants to see these networks develop as an integral part of the delivery system for sport and become a local mechanism for the co-ordination and delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities for local people.  This delivery will depend upon local need and issues.  The networks will also be in a good position to identify the priorities for investment into local sport.

Active Castle Point will aim to achieve the above through the experience and knowledge of partner organisations and feedback and/or input received from local sports clubs.

How can local organisations get involved?

Active Castle Point has put together an Action Plan to meet identified local need. This is reviewed regularly and local clubs can tell us about their new initiatives and we be happy to recognise their efforts on the action plan.

We may need more information from clubs so we can monitor increase in activity, funding arrangements or volunteer requirements but this can be done very easily and we would discuss simple mechanisms for recording this information with you.

What support can the network give my club?

We can assist in promoting your activity, finding volunteers (e.g. coaches, fundraisers, secretaries, committee members etc), training, funding advice, affordable premises and networking opportunities.

Where can I get more information?
