About CAVS


CAVS is a CVS (Council for Voluntary Services)

CVS operate throughout the UK and although varied in the work they do there are 5 core functions as set out by the National Association of CVS’s they are as follows:

  • Service and support for local voluntary and community organisations
  • Liaison
  • Representation
  • Development Work
  • Strategic Partnerships



  • What Services do CAVS provide?

    Based on the core functions CAVS provide support and backup to local voluntary groups though:

  • Access to Website of Grant Making Trusts
  • Photocopying
  • Laminating
  • Typing/Posters/Leaflets
  • Information & Database
  • Equipment/Book loan
  • Training
  • Distributing information
  • Exhibitions
  • Development of new projects
  • Networking
  • Volunteer Recruitment



  • Can CAVS help with recruiting Volunteers?

    In addition to the CVS core functions, CAVS assists with the recruitment of volunteers for local groups. If you would like more information on how CAVS can help you please contact our office on 01268 638416.

    Can all Voluntary or Community groups use CAVS Services?

    Yes, providing they cover the Castle Point area. Certain services are cheaper for CAVS member groups. Membership costs £8.50 per year. If you are thinking of starting a new group in the Castle Point area CAVS membership is free for your first year of operation.

    PHOTOCOPYING 3p - A4 single sided / 5p – A4 double sided / 5p – A3 single sided / 8p - A3 double sided

    LAMINATING 40p - A4 / 30p – A5/ 25p - ID Size

    TYPING 50p per A4 page

    LEAFLET DESIGN/POSTERS Price negotiable dependent on size & colour.

    TRAINING Prices vary

    EQUIPMENT/BOOK LOAN Free

    NEWSLETTERS Free including advertisements placed.

    These facilities are available to non-members at an increased rate.


    Can CAVS help the Public?

    Yes, CAVS can help the community with…

  • Information and Advice on where to access practical help for elderly, Disabled, Children and Families etc.
  • How to find out about volunteering through its Volunteer Centre
  • CAVS is governed by its charitable objectives as laid out within their Governing Document.
